Who Are We?
We’re a fast-growing start-up that’s a subsidiary of a Fortune 500 organization. We’re looking for a principal developer who enjoys solving complex problems and wants a greenfield development opportunity playing a crucial, senior role in a small team.
This presents a unique opportunity to play a key role a fast-growing development team, building the next generation platform for a start-up firm approaching an old industry in a new way. Our business trades commodities (raw materials), but it approaches that trade differently: servicing supply chains and enabling producers and consumers with better data, insights, and tools. We do that through a unique platform of people, processes, and systems. We present a new and unique value proposition to an industry traditionally dominated by giant traders who benefit from complex rules, opaque information, and lack of connection between buyers and sellers.
The value proposition of our platform is managing that complexity, delivering transparency of information and insights, and connects our clients to the global scale of their markets.
Our success proves out that value proposition. From its takeover by the current management team in 2015 the firm grew to over 60 people and a $1.5 billion in revenue in 2020. And we’ve begun to scale, our revenue in 2023 was over double our 2020 numbers, while we’ve grown our employee base by < 50%.
But to truly scale, we need better, smarter, more scalable technology. We’ve begun investing in the team to build that. Our current dev team is made up of our Head of Development and two senior engineers located in Seattle, WA, an outsourced developer in Ghana (a hire from our cocoa business), a UI/UX Designer, two QA Analysts, a Product Manager, and a Business Analyst. In addition to our full-time dev team, we have a team off business and reporting analysts, as well as a group of quant developers and traders who are helping to build out the analytics and quantitative analytics in the system.
We’re looking for a senior team member to partner with our Head of Engineering and our Head of Product to build the SaaS platform we see powering the next stage of our growth, and growth in the commodities industry.
Who We’re Looking For
This role will be a key member of a small team of experienced developers in the creation of a commodity trading, operations, and risk management platform. This platform supports logistics and workflow, financial analytics, trading and transactions, reporting, and customer execution. It’s a tall order, however we’ve already made significant headway towards those goals.
It will act as a key development resource, partnering with our Head of Engineering and our Head of Product to define resourcing, best paths towards solutions, and overall system architecture. The existing team is high performing, so this role is a great fit for someone who likes to collaborate, is excited about building systems from the ground up and enjoys working with others to solve complex problems
