Business Segment Overview

Position purpose: Seeking candidate to join the Credit Risk team supporting our institutional operations. Candidate will be responsible for performing credit assessments and setting limits for a portfolio of Investment Advisors, Broker Dealers, Banks, Insurance companies and other financial institutions, and support the Credit Risk team in the development and implementation of reporting and system projects to guide risk decisions and drive efficiencies throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

Primary duties will include:

  • Independently assess the financial strength and credit risk of institutional clients by conducting financial statement analysis, assigning ratings through quantitative and qualitative analysis, and understanding the customer’s business, industry, and products and services offered by StoneX.
  • Prepare credit reviews and approve limits to allow financial trading, settlement and clearing based on credit authority levels, or recommend limits to senior members of the Credit Risk Team or the Risk Management Committee, as applicable.
  • Monitor and manage client exposures daily to ensure compliance within established limits.
  • Build and sustain professional relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to meet broker deadlines and manage job responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop reporting tools necessary to support risk monitoring and improve department efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with Legal and front office to negotiate financial securities agreements including MRA, GMRA, MSLA, MSFTA.
  • Negotiates and administers the exchange of corporate guarantees, netting agreements, and Letters of Credit, used to mitigate counterparty risk.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with credit procedures and regulatory rules/practices.
  • Assist in the development and testing of credit systems, reports, and processes.
  • Knowledge of business applications & systems to develop & enhance risk tools for monitoring credit risk.
  • Serve as a technical resource/informal mentor for Credit Analysts.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

  • Four or more years of applicable work experience, preferably within a financial institution or in a risk capacity.
  • Strong financial aptitude in credit analysis and/or financial statement analysis, preferably within the trading/capital markets or within a financial institution.
  • Exposure to financial institutions: Registered Investment Advisors, Broker Dealers, Banks, Insurance companies, municipalities, or financial funds.
  • Working knowledge of operations and settlement procedures for regulated financial entities.
  • Knowledge of financial institutions regulatory rules and procedures.
  • Familiarity with network and database technologies.
  • Knowledge of programming languages including python/SQL/R/Power BI is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with credit risk management tools and techniques.

Education / Certification Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field.

Working Style: 

  • 4 days per week onsite, 1 day per week remote
  • Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer

Hiring Salary Range $100,000 - $130,000. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity and alignment with market data.)   Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.  This compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
