Business Segment Overview

Commercial: With boots on the ground authenticity at the heart of everything we do, our comprehensive array of commercial products and services enable you to work directly with our clients, across hedging, risk management, execution and clearing, OTC products, commodity finance and more.

Position Purpose: We are seeking a seasoned, high-impact Director of Tax Credits to co-lead our tax credit transaction team, with a primary strategic focus on the brokering and placement of Section 45Z Clean Fuel Production Tax Credits.

As the leader of this specialized unit, you will drive the monetization of 45Z credits, bridging the gap between clean fuel producers and corporate tax credit buyers. You will oversee the placement strategy while collaborating closely with a supporting team focused on credit origination, process administration, and technical documentation. This role requires a blend of high-level salesmanship, deep regulatory understanding of renewable fuels policy - particularly the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and collaborative leadership.

Responsibilities

Primary duties will include:

  • 45Z Placement Leadership: Drive the strategic placement, negotiation, and closing of Section 45Z Clean Fuel Production tax credits.
  • Sales & Brokerage Strategy: Develop and sales strategies to connect 45Z credit originators (producers) with corporate buyers looking to offset tax liability.
  • Market Development: Build and maintain high-level relationships with corporates, insurance companies, financial institutions, and renewable energy developers.
  • Collaboration: Leadership across the direct team and other internal stakeholders specialized in 45Z documentation, regulatory compliance, and placement.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Maintain an in-depth understanding of evolving IRS guidance, including registration (Form 637), lifecycle emissions calculations (45ZCF-GREET), and transferability rules.
  • Deal Structuring: Lead negotiations on credit pricing and transaction structures, ensuring compliance with transferability requirements.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Public Policy, or related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience with buying, selling, or brokering federal tax credits (ITC, PTC, 45Z, 45X).
  • Public Policy/Regulatory: Strong background in navigating public policy, IRA legislation, or IRS tax incentive regulations.
  • Sales & Marketing: Strong sales skills with a track record of closing high-value transactions.
  • Team Player: Proven ability to lead and work collaboratively within a team environment to drive results.
