Job purpose:

An exciting opportunity within the AML Compliance Department to join our team as a Sanctions Subject Matter Expert. In this role, you will play a key part in strengthening the Firm’s sanctions compliance framework, providing accurate, timely, and well-reasoned guidance on all sanctions-related escalations. You will conduct holistic sanctions analysis of clients, trades, and transactions, ensuring adherence to US sanctions regulations and internal policies. You will be responsible for managing escalations, advising on complex transactions, and driving continuous enhancements to sanctions-related policies, procedures, and screening processes across the various business lines of StoneX Group.

Responsibilities

Primary duties will include: 

  • Review and analyze sanctions-related escalations involving new and existing customers, wire transfers, trades, and other transactions; determine and document the appropriate course of action.
  • Review and provide guidance on complex relationships and product offerings that present heightened sanctions risks.
  • Make recommendations on procedural enhancement or changes if needed.
  • Disseminate sanctions guidance and newsletters, and work with respective groups to ensure processes adhere to new developments as they arise.
  • Lead enterprise-wide sanctions risk assessments.
  • Conduct assessments of controls related to the screening of payments and transactions (by business line) to ensure that transactional processes comply with OFAC regulations and the AML Sanctions Policy.
  • Provide guidance to respective teams (Operations, Treasury, Margin) on control enhancements that need to be implemented based on any gaps noted.
  • Perform submission of applicable OFAC reports as needed in coordination with Legal department if necessary.
  • Conduct quality-assurance checks and validations of OFAC filtering systems—including testing after SDN updates—to confirm system compliance.
  • Develop and deliver sanctions-related training as needed.
  • Stay abreast with new laws and regulations that involve U.S. Sanctions Compliance.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management, including supporting other AML Department areas as needs arise.
  • Liaise with AML Compliance and Technology teams on screening issues and system enhancements.
  • Proactively identify regulatory or operational issues and implement solutions to strengthen the control environment.
  • Participate in special projects supporting the U.S. Sanctions Compliance program.
  • Assist with preparing materials for internal and external OFAC and sanctions-related regulatory examinations.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

  • 6-8 years of prior sanctions compliance and advisory experience at a financial institution, law firm, regulatory agency, or other similar work environment.
  • Good understanding of payment methods, fund movement and financial transaction types
  • Proven experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders and internal teams
  • Experience and comfort working in an ever-changing industry and the flexibility to quickly react to changing demands.

 

Education / Certification Requirements:

  • Knowledge of US/OFAC regulations and requirements, including reporting and licensing obligations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Hiring Salary Range $130,000-$150,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity and alignment with market data.)   Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.  This compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
