Responsibilities

Position Purpose: As a Lead Engineer for the Developer Platforms team, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of our internal developer platform, developer portal, and integrations with a broad constellation of services to support software development and delivery across the organization.

You will guide the evolution of scalable, cloud-native platforms and foster adoption of consistent standards, industry best practices, and golden paths that drive overall velocity and developer efficiencies. You will lead cross-functional initiatives, align platform investments with product roadmaps, and set architectural milestones that shape the future of our platforms.

This role requires deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong leadership to mentor engineers and foster best practices in distributed systems, observability, and lifecycle management.

 

Primary duties will include:

  • Lead the design and development of our internal developer platform and portal
  • Lead cross-team initiatives that align platform engineering with strategic business priorities.
  • Partner with service teams within Platform Engineering to provide common entry points and standard interfaces for backend services.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address pain points, ease friction, and provide self-service access to common services and technologies.
  • Design and evolve scalable cloud-native platforms with a focus on reliability, performance, and reusability.
  • Mentor engineers in distributed system design, architectural best practices, and reliability engineering.
  • Participate in setting platform-wide strategy and standards, including build & deployment automation, metrics SLAs, logging standards, and incident protocols.
  • Define and implement lifecycle management and failure recovery practices across services.
  • Guide platform versioning, rollout policies, deployment safety mechanisms, and infrastructure management standards.
  • Represent the Developer Platforms team across the organization, connecting strategy to delivery.
  • Remove systemic blockers and define frameworks for solving complex technical challenges.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

 

  • Extensive experience in platform engineering, site reliability engineering, cloud infrastructure, or related technical leadership roles. Typically 10+ years, though equivalent skills and impact matter more than time.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional projects and aligning technical work with business strategy.
  • Deep expertise in designing and operating distributed systems and cloud-native architectures using “everything-as-code” and sophisticated automation systems.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering, observability, release management, and infrastructure lifecycle practices.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and fostering reusable design patterns.

Education / Certification Requirements: 

  • We value diverse educational and experiential backgrounds. A degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience is welcome.
  • Preferred certifications:
  • Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Industry-recognized certifications in cloud architecture, operations, or DevOps-related topics, (e.g., Terraform Professional, CNCF certifications, PCEP/PCAP/PCPP, etc.)

Working Environment:

 

  • Hybrid (4 days in office)

Hiring Salary Range $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity and alignment with market data). Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan. This compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
