Position Purpose:   

To apply technical experience and expertise towards principal trading of the firm’s global macro risk book and client facing activities. The Director must use the firm’s capital to assess risk on pricing securities in over 45 global markets.  This requires experience, a strong understanding of the market structure, and corporate finance, along with deciphering news and political risks unique to each security and global region.  Along with pricing large blocks of single stock risk, the Director is required to assess and manage the team risk book as a portfolio of global stocks. Other upper-level mathematical skills are required to establish spread-trades and manage a swap book of hedged equity pairs.  The Director is expected to help refine proprietary trading systems, strategies, and methodology along with brining new and innovative ways to help clients find better execution solutions.

Responsibilities

Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities:            

  • Must be able to work collaboratively within the Principal Equities team and lend new ideas toward strategy development in global equities, ETFs, and ADRs.
  • Perform market-making in exchange listed and OTC securities.
  • Apply algorithmic trading strategies on appropriate exchanges.
  • Develop and apply quantitative trading strategies across markets and asset classes to maximize client value.
  • Mitigate firm and client risk both during U.S trading hours as well as applicable foreign markets.
  • Employ dynamic hedging tools and strategies to minimize firm risk and improve client execution quality.
  • Create custom execution solutions tailored to the unique needs of each client.
  • Interface with the firm’s 24-hour Agency desk to provide around-the-clock global execution and settlement.
  • Leverage existing relationships with local brokers, clearing agents, depository banks and other market participants to drive efficiencies across the Securities Division.
  • Provide middle office guidance to firm custodians and internal operations department to prevent trade fails in complex global markets.
  • Work with various ADR swap dealers to establish and unwind delta one positions.
  • Utilize portfolio risk metrics to ensure the trading book stays within established risk parameters.
  • Engage with clients via online chats, phones, and in-person relationships.

Qualifications

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Mathematics preferred.
  • 2-6 years securities experience.
  • Hold a Series 7 and 57 or equivalent licenses or be willing to prepare for securities exams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication as well as customer service skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel. 
  • Proficient with Bloomberg and equity trading platforms.
  • Strong analysis and judgment skills
  • Excellent organization and multitasking skills.
  • Desire to work in a team orientated atmosphere.
  • Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to details.
  • Must be flexible to work foreign market hours when necessary.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer

Hiring Salary Range $120,000 - $160,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity and alignment with market data.)   Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.  This compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
