Responsibilities

Position Overview:

Support the mission of the Office of the General Counsel to provide responsive, valuable and professional legal services to the company.

 

Responsibilities:   

  • Assist in management of litigation of arbitrations and various global cases, including debt collection, cyber matters, and matters arising from various business lines.
  • Serves as a legal resource on corporate/business matters to client-facing professional staff as well as internal support functions.
  • Participates in monitoring, maintaining and implementing various corporate governance practices and policies including compliance with various global exchange listing requirements and jurisdictional regulations.
  • Interacts with outside legal counsel on designated matters.
  • Supports other projects in the legal department as requested, including drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and IP licenses.
  • Supports the General Counsel in implementing and maintaining compliance programs and strategies for company-wide compliance with applicable laws, practices and industry standards, including international, federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
  • Collaborates with legal department colleagues and management to identify and mitigate risk exposures for the company.
  • Stays current on legal developments that affect company business and foster continuing personal improvement in the quality and level of legal advice provided.
  • Collaborates with other legal team members and colleagues to deliver useful and results-oriented legal services within the Company.
  • Serves as a role model for ethics and professionalism in business conduct.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience post licensure
  • Superior research and drafting skills 
  • Competency in document database platforms (i.e. Relativity or similar)
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to manage numerous projects with absolute deadlines
  • Proven, responsible and cogent decision making ability, problem solving skills and judgment
  • Ability to prioritize, to remain calm and focused, and to deliver quality work product in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent demands
  • Effective leadership skills and the ability to contribute strategic insight while providing hands-on legal counsel

 

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • JD and Illinois Bar membership required

Working Environment: 

  • Hybrid work model: 3 days per week in office, 2 days per week remote
  • Ability to be effective in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to work as a team member as well as independently
  • Must possess strong integrity and exhibit professionalism and enthusiasm at all times
